Kim Severson, one of the top event riders in the United States, first arrived at Plain Dealing Farm in 1996. She was hired by Linda Wachtmeister, owner of the farm, to train event horses and to instruct Linda's daughters. At the time, Kim was already active in the event world on her own Jerry McGerry. After Jeremy sustained an injury at the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day, Linda bought another advanced level horse for Kim, Over the Limit, or Jake. With Jake, Kim won the Rolex Kentucky 3star and placed 4th in their first attempt at the 4star at Kentucky. As Kim's successes multiplied, Linda and Kim solidified their partnership and expanded Kim's string of event horses, which has included Advanced winners Royal Venture, Tsunami, He's Got Rhythm, Upper Register, and Maguire.
Linda purchased Winsome Adante, who has become their most successful event horse to date, late in 1999. Dan and Kim's victories include Radnor and Blenheim, as well as winning the Rolex Kentucky 4star an unprecedented three times. In addition, they have ridden for the US team twice at the World Equestrian Games, winning team gold in Spain. At the 2004 Olympics in Greece, they earned an individual silver medal and led the team to bronze. Dan has been named USEA Horse of the Year three times.
In 2007 Kim left Plain Dealing to set up her own business at a near-by farm in Scottsville. She will continue to compete Winsome Adante and Park Trader, a young horse purchased in England. Tsunami is also in training with Kim but is currently for sale.

Dan was bred in England by Chris and Janet Gooch, and purchased from Jan Bynny in 1999, having already competed through Preliminary events in England. He is Kims most successful partner and he has rarely made a mistake since Kim began competing with him. Because Kim hopes to ride him in the World Championships to be held in Germany later this year, Dan did not compete in the 2006 Rolex 3 Day Event.
Dan was chosen as the 2005 USET Foundation Breyer model horse. The Breyer Cigar racehorse mold was modified to create an accurate representation of Winsome Adante and was limited to a run of 750. The model includes a Story Card on the back of the fox and features printed signatures by Kim and Linda. Visit breyerhorses.com for more information.
As a young horse in England, Dan decided for himself that jumping was fun. He sailed over ditches, logs, gates, and anything else in his path. He has little respect for people other than Kim, and has bitten, kicked, or bucked off most of his grooms. After he eats a treat, he always raises his upper lip.

Tsunami, or Sue, is a 7 year old bay Thoroughbred mare that was purchased off the racetrack and she is one of Plain Dealings biggest success stories. From the moment Kim and groom, Lili Bennet, saw her at the track they knew she was a special horse. With a great deal of heart and courage, Sue has progressed rapidly through the levels. Sue has become another one of Kims all-time favorite young horses. We hope youll see her at Rolex in the future!
